Jelka Dowling

Jelka Dowling, age 81, of Stone Mountain passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020. She was born on November 17, 1939 in Yugoslavia to Mr. and Mrs. Popovic who have preceded her in death. Mrs. Dowling grew up in London, England where she met her husband of 38 years, Mr. James Dowling, who has also preceded her in death. She enjoyed playing bingo at the Stone Mountain Elks Club. Mrs. Dowling also enjoyed spending time working on crossword puzzles and crocheting. Mrs. Dowling is survived by her two children, her son Peter Dowling (Cathy) of Wayside, New Jersey and her daughter Mara Davis (Steve) of Monticello, Georgia. She is also survived by her sister Dusanka Popovic of England. Her grandchildren Dillan Davis, Tiffanie Davis and Dominick Castro, her great-grandchildren Addison Wallace and Owen Wallace as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Service for Mrs. Dowling will be at 11 o'clock Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Newborn Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00am until 11:00am prior to the service.  J.C. Due to the COVID 19/Coronavirus Pandemic all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requirements will be followed.  There is a limit of 50 people at any large gathering, social distancing must be recognized, the use of mask is encouraged, and most importantly if you feel sick or have any symptoms of COVID 19 you will not be allowed to attend the service.  Please be respectful of the family during this difficult time and follow the requirements of the CDC.
