Mr. Joe Parks Mauldin passed away on June 30, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on June 20, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia, he lived a life marked by devotion to his family, faithful service to his country, and a warm spirit that touched everyone he met.

Joe proudly served in the United States Army for 27 years before retiring. During his military career, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business while serving, a reflection of both his discipline and his commitment to personal growth. His service was recognized with numerous honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Army Development Ribbon, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. After his military retirement, he continued to serve others as a club manager for 15 years and 8 months, where his steady leadership and dependable nature were appreciated by all who worked with him.

Those who knew Joe will remember him as a joker with a quick wit and a truly funny personality. He had a gift for making people laugh and for brightening any room he entered. His grandchildren lovingly called him “Crazy Papa,” a name that perfectly captured his playful spirit and the special bond he shared with them. He was also a devoted “girl dad” who stood by his daughters in every part of their lives, offering love, guidance, and unwavering support. Joe enjoyed riding around on his golf cart, telling military stories, and spending time with the people he loved. He was known for his kindness and thoughtfulness, and he was liked by everyone he met.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dorothy Mauldin; his daughter, Ange Grant Landress; his son, Joseph Craig Mauldin; and the mother of his children, Gloria Jean Hill. He is survived by the love of his life of 27 years, Peggy Hulsey; his children, Page Moss and Aleasha Mauldin and her husband, Eric Goodale; his grandchildren, Ashtin Withrow and her husband, Phillip, Cullen Moss and his wife, Laura, Jason Landress, Kaylee Balcazar and her husband, Dominic, Camden Landress, Lacy Mauldin and her husband, Jonathan and Kenzie Moss; eight great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; and his brother, Frank Mauldin and his wife, Chris.

Joe’s life was defined by service, humor, loyalty, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of strength and generosity that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created and the example he set will be cherished.

A Memorial Service will be on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 12 o’clock at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service. J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with these services.
