Joel "Joe" David Ricks

Mr. Joel David “Joe” Ricks, age 59, of Mansfield passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020.  He was born March 10, 1961 in Covington to Junior and Ruth Ricks who have preceded him in death.  Joe did stucco work for many years and also worked the Recycling Centers in Newton County.  He loved to go fishing, he enjoyed NASCAR, and wrestling.  Joe attended Higher Praise Tabernacle with his wife.  Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Judy Whitley. 

Joe is survived by his wife Bertha Ricks, his children Joel David Ricks, Jr. (Jessica) of Conyers, Rachel Ricks (Bob Yarbrough) of Mansfield, and Jimmy Ricks (Hope) of Covington, his 6 grandchildren, his brother Johnny Ricks, his sister Mary Daniel along with a host of other family and close friends. 

Graveside services for Mr. Ricks will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Liberty Cemetery in Porterdale with Brother Kenneth Morrell officiating.  J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home, TE Davis Funeral Services, 2157 East Street, SE, Covington, GA 30014.

Due to the COVID 19/Coronavirus Pandemic all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requirements will be followed.  There is a limit of 50 people at any large gathering, social distancing must be recognized, the use of mask is encouraged, and most importantly if you feel sick or have any symptoms of COVID 19 you will not be allowed to attend the service.  Please be respectful of the family during this difficult time and follow the requirements of the CDC.
