John Thompson Obituary

Mr. John Raymon Thompson, age 90, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024. He was born on October 5, 1934 to John and Arietta Thompson who have preceded him in death. Raymon was a strong, devout, Christian man. He was a deacon of his church, Sunday school teacher and active in the jail ministry. Raymon had a giving heart and was supportive and encouraging to everyone around him. He was a devoted, loving husband to his wife of 67 years, Jane. Raymon was her biggest supporter and protector. He adored his family and was a wonderful, playful great grandfather. Raymon had a soft spot in his heart for all animals. He served a long career in The United States Air Force for over 20 years. Raymon proudly served our country from 1952 until 1973. He was on nuclear bombers when it was America’s only nuclear weapon system. He will be missed by many. Along with his parents, Raymon is preceded in death by his son, Steven Thompson; grandson, Parks Heard Brown, III; sister, Ruth Ricks, and his brother, Richard Thompson.

Raymon is survived by his loving wife, Jane Studdard Thompson; children, Ray Thompson, Joy Thompson Brown and her husband Parks Brown, Jr.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Thompson Kolenut and her husband Kris, Parks Brown, IV and his wife Marissa, Hannah Brown Uhlig and her husband Davis; great grandchildren, Jasper Michael Kolenut, Ava Hope Brown, James Walker Uhlig, Lacey Joy Brown, and Iyla Jane Kolenut, nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends.

A Graveside Service will be held for Mr. Thompson at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 23, 2024 at The Studdard Cemetery with Pastor Mike Hardy officiating.
