Johnnie Ruth (Criswell) Johnson

Mrs. Johnnie Ruth Johnson, age 84, a longtime resident of Covington passed away June 14, 2020.  She was born in Walton County on August 3, 1935 to Burt and Laura Freeman Criswell who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Johnson was a strong Christian woman and attended Baptist Tabernacle.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.  Along with her parents Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her daughter Joanie Vaughn, her sons Terry Johnson, and Andy Johnson, and her grandson Scott Thomason.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband Luther Johnson, her children Lanier Johnson, Donna Bray, Brenda and Don Scarbrough, Tony Johnson, Wade Johnson, and Julie Thomason all of Covington, her sisters and brothers Shirley Howell of Covington, Patsy Green of Social Circle, Billy Criswell and Danny Criswell both of Covington.  She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 3 o’clock Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the Chapel of J. C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Covington City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00pm until 3:00pm on Wednesday prior to the service.
