Joseph Steven "Joe" Spell, known affectionately as Joe to his friends and family, passed away on May 16, 2025, at the age of 50. Born on March 11, 1975, in Daytona Beach, Florida. He grew up in Jonesboro, Conyers, and Covington and was a 1993 graduate of Newton County High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
Joe went on to become a respected part-owner of SPS, where he dedicated his professional life to the growth and success of the business. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were matched only by his kindness and passion for life.
An avid outdoorsman, Joe found solace and joy in the embrace of nature. Whether he was hunting, fishing, or playing a round of golf, he cherished every moment spent under the open sky. His love for the outdoors was infectious, and he often brought together friends and family for memorable adventures.
Joe's legacy is carried on by his loving mother, Teresa Spell, and his two sons, Joey and Hunter Spell, who will forever remember him as a guiding light in their lives. Though his father, Big Joe Spell, predeceased him, the bond they shared as father and son remains an indelible part of who Joe was. He is also survived by several siblings, other family members, and many close friends, all of whom felt the warmth of his kind and friendly spirit.
Those who knew Joe would describe him as a man of great passion, whether it was in his personal interests, his work, or his relationships. His laughter was a melody that echoed in the hearts of those who loved him, and his generosity knew no bounds.
