Joy H. (Henderson) Gilbert

Mrs. Joy Henderson Gilbert, age 76, of Covington passed away July 11, 2024.  She was born June 25, 1948 in Monroe to Ray and Marion Henderson who have preceded her in death.  Funeral services for Mrs. Gilbert will be held at 3 o’clock Sunday, July 14, 2024 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Franklin and Reverend Nolan Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Oxford Historical Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service on Sunday.

Mrs. Gilbert was a wonderful cook and worked at Crest Restaurant and Stalvey’s Restaurant for many years.  She also worked in various retail stores around Covington.  Mrs. Gilbert enjoyed thrift shopping, yard sales, and spending time with her family. 

A strong Christian woman, Mrs. Gilbert was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church where she worked countless hours with Willing Helpers Clinic and she also attended Belmont Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband Buddy Gilbert, her brother Alan Henderson, and her great grandson Jax Gilbert Knoph.

Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her children Teri Krickel (Ed), Zane Gilbert (Shelley), Chad Gilbert (Robin), and Cody Gilbert (Alli) all of Covington; her 8 grandchildren; her 6 great grandchildren; her sisters Kae Adams and Robin Prichard (Ken); along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and many close friends.  In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Willing Helpers Clinic, 4186 Mill Street NE, Covington, GA 30014.
