Joyce (Palmer) Fincher

Mrs. Joyce Fincher, age 81, of Covington passed away Monday, October 28, 2019.  She was born November 10, 1937 in Porterdale to Lacy and Ozella Knight Palmer who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Fincher was a longtime member of Porterdale Baptist Church.  She loved writing, and speaking at churches; she wrote and published a book titled “He’ll Lead You Through Your Sea”.  Mrs. Fincher retired from Mobil Chemical and also retired from the University of Georgia Newton County Extension Office.  She was a loving wife, mother, Mimi, and friend.  Along with her parents Mrs. Fincher was preceded in death by her son Walker David Fincher and her husband Walker Howard Fincher.  She is survived by her sons Philip Fincher and his wife Tiffanie of Richmond Hill, and David Garcia of Powell, TN, her grandchildren Jarrett Walker Fincher and Eliza Joy Fincher, along with a host of other family and close friends.

Funeral service for Mrs. Fincher will be held at 11 o’clock Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Philip Fincher officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park with Reverend David Wheeler officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, November 1, 2019.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Porterdale Baptist Church, 2 Ash Street, Covington, GA 30014.  J.C.
