Kay (Smith) Wood

Mrs. Kay Wood, age 76, of Conyers passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019.  She was born October 16, 1942 in Conyers to Frank D. and Sue Smith who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Wood grew up in the Milstead community and graduated from Rockdale County High School.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, and loved spending time with her family.  Mrs. Wood was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Milstead Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her grandson William Earl Corkern and her brother Gary Smith. 

Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband of 58 years Mr. Earl Wood, her children Rhonda Avery (Barry) of Covington, Monica Wood of Conyers, and Lisa Hill (Mark) of Salem, Virginia her grandchildren Travis, Hannah, Trey, Clara, Michayle, Corey, and Gracie her great grandchild Cainan and one great grandchild on the way along with her brothers Charles Smith (Linda) of Conyers, and Joe Smith (Jane) Covington her sister Toni Smith (Donny) of Milstead along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Darryl Hooper officiating.  Interment will follow at Covington City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday prior to the service.  J.C.
