Larry William McDowell, Sr

Mr. Larry William McDowell, Sr., age 68, of Mansfield, passed away on February 17, 2026. Born in Georgia, Larry grew up in Conyers and Covington, where he developed lifelong friendships and a deep appreciation for family and faith.

A member of New Life Praise Center, Larry was known for his unwavering love of the Lord and his gentle, easygoing nature. He and his beloved late wife, Peggy, shared many adventures as camp hosts at Black Rock Mountain, finding joy together in camping trips across the scenic north Georgia mountains.

Larry was a talented cook who delighted in preparing meals for those he loved. He found happiness in simple pleasures—spending time on his CB radio, tinkering with RC cars, and crafting pieces through woodworking. His creativity and warmth touched all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Peggy McDowell, and his sister, Leslie McDowell. Larry leaves behind a loving family: his son, Bill McDowell (Lynn); daughter, Allison McDowell; stepdaughter, Jennifer Lewis (Randy); grandchildren, Cheyenne, T.J., Karsyn, Cameron, Tyler, Blayne, Sonny, Brooks, Gage, Katy, and Charliegh; and his great-grandchild, Lillian. He will also be deeply missed by other family members and friends whose lives he enriched with kindness and laughter.
