Larry grew up in North Covington and carried with him throughout his life the values of hard work, loyalty, and devotion to family. He attended and graduated from Newton County High School, where he began building the foundation for a life marked by steady determination and a strong sense of responsibility. Those who knew him best will remember a man who was dependable, straightforward, and always willing to lend a hand when needed.
A skilled and respected general contractor, Larry spent many years working with Atlanta Family Restaurants, Martin Construction Company, Miller Grading, and Venture Construction. His career reflected not only his strong work ethic, but also his ability to take pride in a job well done. He retired in 2015 after a long and successful career. Larry earned the respect of coworkers, clients, and all who had the opportunity to work alongside him.
Outside of work, Larry enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life meaningful to him. He loved doing yard work and took great pride in keeping things neat and well maintained. He was an avid fisherman who found peace and enjoyment in time spent outdoors. He also enjoyed cheering on Georgia Tech football and following NASCAR, passions that brought him many hours of excitement and conversation with family and friends. Larry was a faithful member of Shiloh Methodist Church, where he found fellowship and spiritual comfort throughout the years.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Margie Martin, and his sister-in-law, Judy Martin. He is survived by his children, Allen Martin and his wife Brandi, and Lisa Martin and Jeff Williams, all of Covington. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Tanner Martin and his wife Gracie, Kennady Peters and her husband Tate, Kambrie Morrow, Evan Hodges, Ella Hodges, Elijah Hodges, and Asher Martin, his great-grandson, Baker, along with his brother, Ronald Martin, as well as numerous other family members and close friends who will cherish his memory always.
Larry will be remembered for his strong presence, his kind heart, and the love he had for his family. He was a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and lived with a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on everyone around him. His memory will continue to live on in the lives of those he touched, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
