Lina Louise Whitten

Mrs. Lina Louise Whitten, age 92, of Newborn passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021. Mrs. Whitten was born on April 19, 1929 to Mr. James Wyatt and Mrs. Blice Walton, who have both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Mr. Berry Whitten Jr., several brothers and sisters and her granddaughter Jena Faye Whitten. Mrs. Whitten enjoyed spending time with her family, who she was deeply devoted to. She also was extremely dedicated to her church, Mansfield Baptist Church where she was a longtime member. Mrs. Whitten enjoyed being with friends and family, she also enjoyed playing bingo.

Mrs. Whitten is survived by children Douglas Wayne Whitten, Mary Ann Filkins (Douglas) and Michael Berry Whitten (Angela). She is also survived by her grandchildren, April Logue (Stephen) who were her long-time caretakers, Kitty Marie Whitten, Douglas Walker Whitten, Erica Morelock, Dustin Walton Whitten, Michael Berry Whitten II, Cody Beau Filkins and Samuel Alan Filkins and her brother Mr. Sam Walton, who was her only surviving brother. Mrs. Whitten enjoyed her weekly visits with him very much. She is also survived by several great grandchildren, as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Service for Mrs. Whitten will be Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 2 o’clock at Mansfield Baptist Church, 101 Woodlawn Rd Mansfield, GA 30055. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Internment will immediately follow at Newborn City Cemetery.  J.C. As of April 8, 2021, Governor Brian Kemp has lifted the restrictions for large gatherings and other recommendations throughout Georgia.  However, we ask that you still be respectful of the family and others during this time. If you are sick, not feeling well, or have any symptoms of COVID 19, please do not attend the service or services.  If you feel the need to wear a mask, please do so.
