Linda Bixler Obituary

Mrs. Linda Sue Bixler passed away on June 1, 2026, at the age of 78. She was born on February 12, 1948, in Calera, Alabama, and throughout her life she carried with her the warmth, strength, and kindness that so often defined her Southern roots. Linda lived a life marked by faith, devotion to family, and a genuine love for the people around her.

Linda loved the Lord deeply and very much involved with the Church of the Nazarene. She wanted to be involved in her most recent church, Baptist Tabernacle but, her declining health for many years kept her from attending as much as she would have liked.  Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she found great joy in worship, fellowship, and serving others in quiet and meaningful ways. Those who knew her will remember her as someone whose presence brought comfort and encouragement, and whose life reflected the values she held close to her heart.

She enjoyed many simple pleasures in life, and she embraced them with enthusiasm. Linda loved collecting villages, a pastime that brought her delight and reflected her appreciation for the beauty of small details. She also loved going out to eat and being around people, where her warm personality and easy conversation made others feel welcome. She was a wonderful cook, and her meals were made all the more special by the love she poured into them. Linda also enjoyed Alabama Football, and she followed her team with the kind of loyal spirit that made those around her smile.

Above all else, Linda cherished her family. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Jay L. Bixler, who shared with her a life filled with love, companionship, and devotion. She is also survived by her children, Larry Dunlap, Jr. and his wife Lori, Felicia Dunlap, Jodi Breese and her husband Peter, Jon Bixler and his wife Kimberly, and Jessica Fry and her husband Jim. Her love extended to her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her great pride and joy. She is also survived by her brother, Roy Rogers.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Ruth Rogers, and by her sister-in-law, Betty Rogers. Their memory remained a part of her life, and she carried the bonds of family with her always.

Those who knew Linda will remember her as a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, cherished great-grandmother, and faithful friend. She had a generous heart, a welcoming spirit, and a way of making others feel valued and cared for. She loved to be loved, and she gave that same love freely to those around her. Her life was a blessing to her family, her church, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
