Linda (Darby) Byrd

Mrs. Linda Byrd, age 83, of Covington, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Born on October 19, 1942, to the late J.B. and Christine Darby, Linda was a cherished lifelong resident of Covington whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Covington High School, Linda dedicated her life to her faith, family, and community. Baptized at the age of 12 at Jackson Lake, she remained a member of High Point Baptist Church throughout her life. Her faithful spirit was evident in her roles as a loving wife, caring mother, wonderful grandmother, beloved sister, and loyal friend.

Throughout her life, Linda wore many hats with grace and dedication. She was a devoted homemaker, a nurturing kindergarten teacher, a diligent bank teller at First National Bank, and later, an assistant purchaser at Pactiv Corporation. Beyond her professional life, she found joy in gardening, traveling, painting, shopping, and, above all, caring for those she loved.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, David Byrd; her sister, Carolyn; her brothers, Larry Darby and brother-in-law Donald Byrd. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her children, Alicia Lindsey (Greg) and Susan Moss (Todd); grandson, Tristan Moss; brother, Rick Darby (Debbie); sister-in-law, Joan Byrd; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.

Funeral services celebrating Linda’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at High Point Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Rick Darby and Reverend Steven Adams. Interment will follow at High Point Church Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service to share memories and offer their condolences.

Linda Byrd’s loving spirit, steadfast faith, and generous heart will be remembered by all whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
