Linda Powell

Linda Powell, age 55, of Brookhaven passed away October 19, 2023.  She was born June 4, 1968 in Atlanta to Hollis and Betty Ruth Pemberton.  Linda lost her father at an early age and was raised by her mother and step-father Bruce Cumbie.  She loved skating, shopping, and caring for cats; however, her passion in life was caring for others she loved to cook, and was known for feeding the homeless.   Linda was preceded in death by her father Hollis Pemberton; her mother and step-father Betty and Bruce Cumbie; her granddaughters Angel Hope, and Elliana Mayela; her sister Deborah George; and her brother Roy Pemberton.

She is survived by her daughter Amanda Whitaker; her grandchildren Ryan, Everett, Ella, Annabelle, Kinsley, and Roberto; brothers Hollis Pemberton, Timothy Pemberton, Morris George, and Glen Pemberton; her sisters Valerie Johnson, Ann Pemberton, and Connie Merrit; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Powell will be held at 12 o’clock Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery, 5170 E Ponce de Leon Ave, Stone Mountain, GA 30083.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Friday, October 27, 2023.  J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
