Lora Jean (Baize) Scott

Lora Jean Baize Scott, 67, peacefully passed away at Brightmoor Hospice in Conyers, Georgia, on Monday, May 27, 2024. A Bloomington, Indiana native, Jean moved to Georgia with her father and sisters as a child. She married William R. “Pete” Scott in Atlanta in 1973; they have resided in Covington since 1993. Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and taking road trips, especially to Cherokee, North Carolina with her husband and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 51 years, William R. Scott, Sr. of Covington; son and daughter-in-law William R. Scott, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Conyers; sisters Debra (Billy) Wilson of Covington, and Viola Gail Thomas of McDonough; and two grandchildren, Robert and Francisca.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Bernice Baize; son Bobby L. Scott; brother Paul Wayne Moore, and sister Rose Bunton Gay.

A memorial service for Mrs. Scott will be held at 1 o’clock, Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM prior to the service.
