Mallory Lloyd Smith, an officer and gentleman, known affectionately by his family as Sonny, went to be with his Lord and Savior, early morning August 7, 2025 after a long, hard battle with Parkinson Disease.
He was born in Atlanta, GA on December 28, 1941. Mallory was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. Smith and Emily Mallory Smith, as well as daughter, Stacy Smith Dumke. He is survived by wife, Nancy Deal Smith; daughters Hillory Tejera (Luis) and Staci Bolton Williams (Greg); son, Wesley Brad Bolton (Mei); granddaughters, Sofia and Kayla Tejera, Maddie and Anna Dumke, and grandsons Cooper, Alex and Brock Williams; and fur babies, Miss Kitty and Chanel.

As a member of the Varsity Track team, his love of running continued throughout adulthood via numerous half marathons, annual Peachtree Road Races, and participation in the FIRST Publix Thanksgiving Day race earning him the distinction of “Streaker”. That title, along with his Eagle Scout badge, were among his proudest achievements.
After high school Mallory attended The Georgia Institute of Technology, joined the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, and graduated June 12, 1965 with a degree in Industrial Engineering.
In May, 1966 Mallory completed Recruit Training at the United States Naval Training Center in San Diego, CA where he was selected as the “Honor Man” of Recruit Company 122, and reported for duty aboard the U.S.S. Cony February 1966 to 1969 during the Vietnam War. LTJG M.L. Smith was honorably discharged.
Upon completion of his military service, and a year at the Atlanta Hapeville Ford assembly plant, Mallory began his career at Lithonia Lighting on September 2, 1969. After spending his entire career in various Engineering and Engineering Management roles, he retired July 5, 2013 as Director of Manufacturing and Process Engineering.
