Margie D. (Griffin) Cartledge

Mrs. Margie D. Cartledge, age 82, of Covington passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020.  She was born in Monticello on June 11, 1938 to Millard F. and Bertie Holt Griffin who have preceded her in death.  She grew up in Jasper County and attended school in Monticello.  Mrs. Cartledge loved her family very much, she enjoyed gardening, traveling to the mountains, and loved her cats.  She worked in quality control at Mobile Chemical for many years.  Mrs. Cartledge was preceded in death by her daughter Bonnie Malcom and her granddaughter Jessica Parker.  She is survived by her children and their spouses; Johnny Parker and Gail Knight of Covington, Patsy Barr and David of Covington, Carol Johnson and Ernest of Covington, Shirley White and Barry of Loganville, Faye Jones and Daniel of Covington, Jimmy Parker and Cathy of Covington, Lonnie Gillam and Sherry of Monticello, and James Brown of Social Circle, her son-in-law Phil Malcom, along with 23 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Cartledge will be held at 11 o’clock Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Brandon Walton officiating.  Interment will follow at Lone Oak Baptist Church in Eatonton.  The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the funeral home.  J.C. Due to the COVID 19/Coronavirus Pandemic all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requirements will be followed.  There is a limit of 50 people at any large gathering, social distancing must be recognized, the use of mask is encouraged, and most importantly if you feel sick or have any symptoms of COVID 19 you will not be allowed to attend the service.  Please be respectful of the family during this difficult time and follow the requirements of the CDC.
