Mrs. Marguerite “Mog” Floyd, age 82, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022. She was born on June 12, 1940 in Douglas, Georgia to Ealy and Doris Ward Barfield who have preceded her in death as well as her stepfather, Bonnie Lee Barfield. Mrs. Floyd was the glue that held the family together. She was the “keeper of family photos” and the one who kept up with everyone’s birthday, wedding anniversary, or any important date to remember. Mrs. Floyd was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and spending time with children. Everyone was drawn toward “Aunt Mog.” She will be remembered for always having a peppermint in her mouth or having extra to give away. Mrs. Floyd did not mind saying whatever she thought. She was known to “speak her mind.” Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Tony E.T. Floyd.
Mrs. Floyd is survived by her son, Tony E. Floyd and his daughter, Lauren Larae Floyd along with Lauren’s mother, Candace Bentley; three sisters, Marlene Steptoe of Douglas, Marion Barfield of Hampton, Gail and Rick Whittle of Rochelle; four brothers, Ealy and Pam Barfield of Blairsville, Bonnie and Bobbie Barfield of Cordele, Lonnie Barfield of Elkton, Florida, Quillian and Robbie Barfield of Pitts, many nieces, nephews, other family members and close friends.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.
