Marjorie "Margie" B. (Bates) Smith

Mrs. Marjorie B. “Margie” Smith, age 88, a longtime resident of Covington passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019.  She was born July 6, 1930 in Jasper County to James Idus and Mary King Bates who have preceded her in death.  Mrs. Smith enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching cooking shows, and collecting recipes.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.  Mrs. Smith along with her husband Bob owned and operated Coffee Service Unlimited, they provided coffee to business and government offices in and around Covington for many years. She also worked at Tri-City Cleaners as a bookkeeper for many years.  Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Robert G. “Bob” Smith and her brother Larry Bates.  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Randy Conner of Covington; her grandchildren Brandi Lee Martin, Carman Cornett, Chris Conner, and Wesley Conner; her great grandchildren Evan, Ella, Elijah, Emily, Anna Beth, Isabella, Eliza, and Ginny; her sisters Sara Lois Harris of Juliette, and Jean Park of Covington along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

Memorial services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Prospect United Methodist Church, 84 Barnes Mountain Road, Mansfield, GA 30055 with Reverend Len Strozier officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service.  J.C.
