Mrs. Martha S. Jones, age 78 of Covington passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Mrs. Jones was born in Conyers, Georgia on January 2, 1943 to Buster and Genora Skinner, who have both preceded her in death. Mrs. Jones grew up in the Almon Community in Covington and she attended Newton County High School. Mrs. Jones enjoyed being in the great outdoors. She loved working in her garden, planting and tending to her flowers, as well as camping. Mrs. Jones attended and served in the choir at Red Oak United Methodist Church for many years. She had a long career as a dietician for Heard Mixon Elementary School. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Harry S. Jones, Sr.; her brothers Robert Skinner, Terry Skinner and Bill Skinner.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her children Sonny Jones (Mandy) of Covington, and Kaylon Garcia (Samuel) of Covington. Her grandchildren Allison Norman (Scot), Sam Jones (Liz), Jake Jones (Meredith) and Carlos Garcia. Her great grandchildren Boone Norman, Banks Norman, Noah Jones, Lucy Jones and Kate Jones. Her siblings Roger Skinner, Minnie Bruce, Diane Benke, Kathy Owens and many other close family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at New Covington Cemetery. J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home, TE Davis Funeral Services, 2157 East Street, SE, Covington, GA 30014.
