Martha (Davis) Smith

Mrs. Martha Davis Smith, age 87, of Covington passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020.  She was born October 9, 1932 in Newborn to Thomas Edgar and Ruby Mitchum Davis who have preceded her in death.  She grew up in Newborn and Porterdale and attended Porterdale High School.  Mrs. Smith worked at Bibb Manufacturing, Kay’s Kiddie Korner, and was a bus monitor for Newton County.  Her family was her life especially her grandchildren; she loved cooking, baking cakes, and Christmas.  She was a member of Common Ground Church. 

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband Robert Adel Smith, her brother Marion Davis, her sister Ann Allen, and her great grandchild Trista Harper.  She is survived by her children Vic and Teresa Smith of Covington, Kay and Monty Hill of Covington, and Danny and Kris Smith of Social Circle. Her 6 grandchildren, her 6 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends also survive her. 

Graveside services will be held at 3 o’clock Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Lawnwood Memorial Park with Pastor Ron Compton officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 3:00pm Sunday prior to the service at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.
