Maxie “Max” Earnest Wright went home to Jesus on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the age of 90.
Max was born to Ida and Maxie Brown on July 25, 1934 in Atlanta, Georgia.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and then as a police officer with the Atlanta Police department.
He met his wife Becky in 1978 and they united their families in August of that year in Salisbury, Massachusetts. Their God story, love and devotion to God and each other has set an incredible example for their children and others that knew them.
Max was a member of First United Methodist Church of Covington. He was a gifted musician, song writer and singer. He enjoyed fishing, listening to gospel, country and bluegrass music and spending time with family.
His greatest legacy is his huge love for Jesus, Becky, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended friends and family.
He joins his parents, Ida Vonkleeck and Maxie Brown, his adoptive father Ray Wright and his step father Ernest Vonkleeck, his sister Linda and his son Maxie. He is survived by his wife Becky, his children Robin, Elizabeth, Patricia (James), David, Charles, Ben, Daisy, George, Julie, his 15 grandchildren and his great- grandchildren.
Funeral services for Max will be held at 2 o’clock Friday, December 13, 2024 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Shurtz and Dr. Royeese Stowe officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
