Maynard Kerrick, Jr Obituary

Maynard Gilbert Kerrick, Jr., passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 59, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and laughter that brightened the lives of everyone he touched. Born on May 2, 1966, in Penn Yan, New York, Maynard’s infectious personality was evident from an early age.  He was preceded in death by his parents Maynard Gilbert Kerrick, Sr. and Jane McCloud who predeceased him, and as the cherished brother of the late Jeff Kerrick.

Maynard's survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia Kerrick, and their son, Matthew “Pete” Kerrick (married to Breonna), and daughter, Cassandra "Butch" Kerrick, formed the cornerstone of his world. A loving brother to his siblings, Barry Kerrick, Bob Kerrick, Donna Henderson, and Lori Snyder, Maynard's warm presence will be profoundly missed. His love extended to numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and a community of friends who were like family to Maynard.

For nearly three decades, Maynard poured his commitment and compassion into his work with Newton County Animal Control, where he excelled as a Senior Field Officer. His unwavering dedication to the wellbeing of animals spoke volumes of his character, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and the broader community alike.

Maynard was an avid outdoorsman, he relished the times spent hunting and fishing, embracing the serenity of nature. Equally content with simple pleasures, he found joy in cutting grass and working with his hands, often leaving things better than he found them. Maynard's profound love for all animals was reflected in every aspect of his life, from his career to his personal endeavors.

Those who knew Maynard will fondly remember his ability to find humor in daily life. His quick wit, jovial nature, and love for lighthearted teasing were sources of endless amusement and comfort. Loved by many, Maynard's essence can best be captured as loving, kind, and funny – attributes that shone through in every interaction.

Maynard’s spirit of laughter, generosity, and compassion remains a beacon to all who were fortunate enough to know him. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will continue to inspire us to live fully, love deeply, and laugh heartily, just as he did.
