Melissa Lanelle Davis, lovingly known as Missy, passed away on May 12, 2026, at the age of 56. She was born on July 13, 1969, in Covington, Georgia, and she lived a life marked by devotion to her family.

Missy found joy in simple pleasures and in the natural beauty of the world around her. She loved waterfalls, enjoyed camping, fishing, riding motorcycles, and spending time in the mountains. Missy also like to try her luck with gambling. These interests reflected her appreciation for both excitement and peace. Whether she was enjoying the thrill of a game, sitting beside the water, or taking in the view of a mountain landscape, she found contentment in the moments that brought her closest to nature and to the people she loved.

Missy was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Faye Davis; her sisters, Jamie and Sandra Davis; and her brother, Phillip Davis. Their memory remained close to her heart throughout her life, and she carried their love with her always. Though she now joins them in eternal rest, the bond they shared remains a cherished part of her family’s story.

She is survived by her children, Diane Watherford and her husband Craig, and Danyelle Gilstrap. She also leaves behind her nephew, David “Dae Dae” Johnson, who was like a son to her and held a very special place in her heart. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Dylan Davis and his significant other, Emma Taylor, Ethan Addison, Hunter Addison, Mystery Davis, Gunner Weatherford, Emily Moubray, Nelson Moubray, Ronny Moubray, and David Issac Johnson. She is also survived by her siblings, Nedra Gilstrap and her husband David, and Michael Davis and his wife Jenifer. Each of them will carry forward the love, lessons, and memories she gave so freely.

Though Missy’s passing leaves a deep void, her memory will remain a source of comfort to those who knew her best. She will be remembered for her strength and love. Her family will hold close her memory with them always.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 o'clock pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at J.C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation from 2:00pm until 3:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
