Mr. Michael "Pops" Maddox, passed away on April 27, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on August 25, 1939, to the late Jesse and Edna Maddox. He was predeceased by his lifetime love and wife Polly Maddox, by his brother, Sammy Maddox, and his nephew, Barry Maddox.
Mike's life was rich with the love of his children, Cathy King and her husband Andy "AB" Senn, and Frankie Small along with her husband Todd. He was a cherished grandfather to Jessica Blackwell, Josh Mattison and his wife Amber, and Lindsey Selman and her husband Brad, Chelsea and Aaron Small. His joy multiplied with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Payton Harwood, Morgan Blackwell, Lance Blackwell, Cayden Mitchell, Gabriel Blankenship, Juliette Blankenship, Eli Mattison, Scarlett Mattison, Rosie, and Oden. The family circle expanded to include the delight of great-great-grandchildren Nova Blackwell, Maddox Harwood, and Colson Blackwell, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
Mike's work ethic was as strong as his love for his family. He dedicated his life to truck driving, a profession that allowed him to travel the roads he so loved and provided for those he held dear.
Beyond his professional life, Mike was a man with a passion for speed and competition. He left his mark on the racing tracks of Georgia, where he raced stock cars at the Sugar Bowl and Peach Bowl in Lithonia. His love of racing wasn't confined to the asphalt; he also made waves racing drag boats, with his vessel, "Delirious," reaching exhilarating speeds of 165 miles per hour. Mike's racing days were filled with the roar of engines, the thrill of speed, and the camaraderie of fellow racers. He raced his own car throughout Georgia, leaving behind memories of excitement and sportsmanship.
