Michael West Sr. Obituary

Mr. Michael "Mike" West Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, in Mansfield, Georgia. Born on August 5, 1947, Mike was a beacon of joy and laughter to all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love and fond memories.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth West, his sister Charlene West, and his brothers Joe and James West. He was the beloved husband of Sue West, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage filled with devotion and mutual support. His spirit will be carried on by his loving family, including his son Michael West Jr., daughter-in-law Kelly West, daughter Kim Hudson, son-in-law Todd Hudson, and his adored grandchildren, Stewart West and his wife Christina, Kaylee Searcy and her husband Mac, Joshua Hudson and his wife Haley, Kelsy Stone and her husband Bubba and Tori Hudson. Mike also took immense pride in his great-grandchildren, Addison, Lexi, and Avery Stone, Wyatt and Cole Hudson who will miss their great-grandfather's warmth and humor. He leaves behind his dear sister, Ruth Floyd, who will remember her brother with fondness and admiration.

For the majority of his life, Mike dedicated himself to his work as a truck driver, a profession that suited his love for the open road and classic rock music. His colleagues knew him as a man of integrity, a reliable and hardworking individual who always had a story or a joke to share. Mike's involvement with his work community extended beyond his professional duties, as he was known for his willingness to lend a hand and his commitment to camaraderie.

Mike's interests reflected the vibrant and joyful person he was. A lifelong fan of the GA Bulldogs, he never missed a game and could often be found cheering on his favorite team with unbridled enthusiasm. But it was in the kitchen where Mike's creativity truly shone, as he loved to bake cakes—each one a testament to his talent and his desire to express his love for his family and friends. These sweet creations became a symbol of his affection, and his family will cherish the memories of the joy his baking brought to so many gatherings.

Equally known for his humor, Mike had an unparalleled ability to make everyone around him laugh, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. His playful spirit and his infectious laughter will be remembered by all as a comforting echo of the happiness he spread throughout his life.

Mike's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the simple pleasures of life. His family takes comfort in knowing that he lived a life full of the things he cherished most and that his memory will continue to inspire joy and kindness in those he left behind.

As the West family mourns the loss of a remarkable man, they also celebrate a life well-lived—a life rich with laughter, love, and the sweet aroma of freshly baked cakes. Mike West Sr. will be deeply missed, but his legacy will endure in the hearts of his loved ones and in every life, he touched with his generous spirit and infectious joy.
