Mr. Purn Elton Brown

Mr. Purn Elton Brown, age 92, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025.  He was born October 7, 1932, in Cochran, Georgia to Elton and Annie Laurie Brown who have preceded him in death. 

Mr. Brown grew up in the Covington Mill community of Newton County and retired from the City of Atlanta where he worked as an inspector.  Mr. Brown served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He was a man of faith, and a longtime member of Covington Mill United Methodist Church. Nothing pleased Mr. Brown more than being with his family and he enjoyed researching his family history.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife Ardath Brown, his daughters Laree Brown of Atlanta, and Lennie Poteat (Gary) of Hiawasee.  He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. 

A Graveside Service for Mr. Brown will be held at 2 o’clock, Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Lawnwood Memorial Park with Pastor Kimbrough Pace officiating.  J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
