Mr. Steve Hanson, age 79, of Covington passed away Monday, April 1, 2024.  He was born January 30, 1945 in Atlanta and grew up in the Pea Ridge Community of Dekalb County and graduated from Clarkston High School.  Mr. Hanson was an avid hunter, he enjoyed fishing, going on cruises, playing golf, camping and making straw baskets out of long needle pine straw.  He served his country proudly in the United States Navy and was a Master Mason and member of Golden Fleece Lodge #6.  Mr. Hanson was preceded in death by his parents along with his brothers Don and Mike; and his sisters Janie and Susie.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years Virginia Hanson; his daughter Regina Hammonds; his grandson Ricky Childs (Jennifer); his great grandchildren Brody, Austyn, and Charley; his brother Ben Hanson (Janice); his sisters Alice Wynn, and Molly Hunt; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and many close friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Hanson will be held at 1 o’clock Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Conyers.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday prior to the service.
