Mrs. Charlotte (Aiken) Johnson

Mrs. Charlotte A. Johnson, age 96, a lifelong resident of Covington passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024. She was born July 28, 1928 in Covington to Robert and Maggie Aiken who have preceded her in death. 

Mrs. Johnson worked for Belk’s Department Store for 45 years and was a natural historian of Covington and Newton County.  She enjoyed flowers, gardening, canning, and loved Arbor Day.  Mrs. Johnson was a devout Christian and a longtime member of the Covington First United Methodist Church.  Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Allen Johnson, Jr.  Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son Vince Johnson of Covington and a host of friends.

Graveside service for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 11 o’clock Monday, November 25, 2024 at Covington City Cemetery with Reverend Doctor Jan McCoy officiating.  The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 24, 2024.  To continue her legacy of giving, the family is establishing a memorial scholarship fund in her name.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charlotte A. Johnson Memorial Fund.
