Mrs. Georgie (Smith) Groome

Mrs. Georgie Groome, age 75, of Covington passed away Monday, February 19, 2024.  She was born March 23, 1948 in New York and grew up in Hialeah, Florida.  Mrs. Groome was as described by the family “The Hostess with the Mostest” always hosting family card night and holidays throughout the year.  She enjoyed gambling, bingo, and spending time with her family.  Mrs. Groome was preceded in death by her parents Roger and Elizabeth Tobler Smith; her brother Roger Smith; and in August of 2023 her husband David Groome.  Growing up in Florida she graduated from Hialeah High School and later worked for Lake Forest Elementary School.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Mrs. Groome is survived by her sons Chris Groome (Laura Tapling) of Dawsonville, Patrick Groome (Christine Quackenbush) of Sugar Hill, and Scott Groome (Consuella) of Loganville; her three grandchildren Amanda, Jacob, and Drew; her future grandchild Brittany Ford; her sister Robin Best of Madison; her brother Stephen Smith (Cindy) of Oxford; along with numerous other family members and close friends.  

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.
