Mrs. Jean Mitchell

Mrs. Jean Mitchell, age 83, of Covington passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022.  She was born October 15, 1938 in Dekalb County to Robert and Grace Hunt.  Mrs. Mitchell grew up in Avondale and graduated from Avondale High School.  She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, softball, and basketball.  Mrs. Mitchell was a longtime member of Glen Haven Baptist Church.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters Betty Flanigan, and Linda Collis. 

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her husband, Oliver Mitchell of Covington; her sons and daughter-in-law, Tony Mitchell (Bettina) of Social Circle, and Sam Mitchell of Covington; her granddaughter Ellie Mitchell.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and many friends. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Mitchell will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday, April 16, 2022 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Warren Green officiating.  Interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, April 15, 2022 at the funeral home. 

Governor Brian Kemp has lifted the restrictions for large gatherings and other recommendations throughout Georgia.  However, we ask that you still be respectful of the family and others during this time. If you are sick, not feeling well, or have any symptoms of COVID 19, please do not attend the service or services.  If you feel the need to wear a mask, please do so.
