Mrs. Merrelyn Lewis Obituary

Merrelyn Lewis was faithful wife, mother, and member of the Conyers and Covington community. With a legacy in education and rich involvement in her faith community, Merrelyn brought God’s love to everyone she met. Merrelyn Price Lewis passed peacefully the morning of July 31, 2025.  She was preceded in death by her mother Charlotte Price. She loved her family; her two daughters and her husband of 54 wonderful years, Homer.

Merrelyn worked in education as a teacher and administrator from the time she was 21 years old.  As her family grew, she spent many happy years with her girls playing Barbies, going to the library, and helping them with their own education.  She was constantly by Homer’s side as he led his architecture firm in Conyers, Georgia, and was steadfast in her devotion to their work. She was also a constant companion as both were actively involved in The Rotary Club of Rockdale County, serving their community with pride.

Merrelyn was wholly devoted to her church community both at First Baptist Church Conyers and Covington.  In addition to many years teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, beautifully playing flute in the orchestra, she also accompanied a small group of home missionaries to start a new church plant in the early 1980s on the south side of Rockdale County.  Both Merrelyn and Homer were charter members of Trinity Baptist Church as it was a special place for Merrelyn to live out her faith in the community that needed her care.

Those that knew Merrelyn knew her as a woman of great integrity and diligent worker. She loved creating and spent many happy hours knitting or crocheting handmade blankets for those in need. She could always be counted on and was by so many.

Merrelyn was well loved by many will be missed. She is survived by her husband, Homer Richard Lewis, her daughters, Merrie Beth Salazar and Emily Oh, her sons-in-law, Ruben Salazar and Marcus Oh, her grandchildren, Meridian, Finley and Adalyn Salazar, her great grandchild, Emery Brett, her father, Merrell Price of Jackson, Ga., sister Beth Harkness and family.
