Mrs. Nellie Hood, age 79, of Oxford passed away Monday, March 22, 2021. She was born in Monroe, Georgia on April 28, 1941 to William and Francis Johnson, who have preceded her in death. Mrs. Hood was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend. She worked as a caregiver and retired from Merryvale Assisted Living in Oxford. Mrs. Hood was a wonderful cook, she enjoyed going to the mountains with her husband, riding on the pontoon boat, fishing, and she loved to dance. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Hood, Sr, and her sister Dorothey Jane Johnson.
Mrs. Hood is survived by her children Cindy Barton of Oxford, Donna Faye Pope and Deacon of Monticello, Donald Hood, Jr of Oxford, Rita K. Goodman and George, Jr of Monticello, and Pamela J. Farrow Covington. She is also survived by her sister Francis Moon of Greensboro, along with 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, and numerous other family and close friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hood will be held at 2 o’clock Friday, March 26, 2021 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Jersey Holiness Church Cemetery.
