Mrs. Patricia A. McCoy, a beacon of warmth and humor, passed away on July 16, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on May 1, 1956, in Jefferson, GA, to the late Guy and Willene Whitlock, Patricia's zest for life and her loving nature touched all who knew her. She walked through life with a smile and left a lasting impression of kindness and joy.
Patricia embraced life fully and found love not once, but twice. Her journey began with her first husband, Gary Roper, with whom she welcomed two wonderful sons, Paul (and his wife, Karen) and Erin (and his wife, Alexis). Later, she found a companion in Carl McCoy, who became her second husband and shared with her many cherished years. Proud to be a grandmother, Patricia cherished every moment spent with her beloved grandchild, Riley.
Her career as a warehouse clerk with SRG Global was only a fraction of what defined her. Patricia's Christian faith was a cornerstone in her life, guiding her actions and providing comfort and strength. Her commitment to living her faith was evident to all who had the pleasure to encounter her. She was a loving mother to everyone.
Patricia's interests were as rich and varied as her personality. She delighted in the simple pleasures of life, from sewing and crocheting to mastering puzzles and playing cards. A gifted storyteller, her ability to tell jokes was unparalleled, often leaving a room full of laughter in her wake. The simple act of being grandmother was perhaps her favorite pastime, enveloping her family with love, wisdom, and, of course, her characteristic humor.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Her siblings, Steve Whitlock, Betty Woods, and Sandra Mashburn, will remember Patricia as the thread that bound the fabric of their family together, with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members echoing the sentiment. Her presence and companionship were a gift to many close friends who equally felt the weight of her passing.
Through actions and words, Patricia exemplified qualities of being loving, funny, and thoughtful. A light in the lives of many, her spirit will continue to inspire those who had the fortune to know her. As the sun sets on a life so brightly lived, we bid a fond farewell, carrying forward the love and laughter she so generously shared. Mrs. Patricia A. McCoy's story is one of joy, love, and an unequivocal zest for life—a story that will continue to be told with fondness and admiration.
A funeral service for Mrs. McCoy will be held at 10 o’clock on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025.
