Mrs. Sally Franklin

Mrs. Sally Franklin, age 83, of Covington passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021.  She was born February 17, 1938 in Barnesville, Georgia and grew up in Covington.  She worked for Waffle House on Highway 278 for 27 years.  Mrs. Franklin enjoyed going to Cherokee and was a long-time member of Higher Praise Tabernacle.  She was preceded in death by her parents Horace and Inez Willard, her husband William “Bill” Franklin, and her son Gary Gilstrap. 

Mrs. Franklin is survived by her children; David and Nedra Gilstrap of Covington, Ronnie Gilstrap of Monroe, Rita King of Covington, and Ricky Gilstrap of Covington.  She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 68 Great Grandchildren, her brother Gene Willard of Newborn, and her sister Judy Norman of Oxford along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Franklin will be held at 4 o’clock Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Kenneth Morrell officiating.  Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Porterdale.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm prior to the service on Saturday.  J.C. As of April 8, 2021, Governor Brian Kemp has lifted the restrictions for large gatherings and other recommendations throughout Georgia.  However, we ask that you still be respectful of the family and others during this time.  If you are sick, not feeling well, or have any symptoms of COVID 19, please do not attend the service or services.  If you feel the need to wear a mask, please do so.
