Ms. Agnes Ruth (Deaton) Digby

Ms. Agnes Ruth Deaton Digby, age 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025. Born on July 9, 1930, in Porterdale, Agnes lived a long and meaningful life, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to her family and friends, and her unwavering spirit throughout the years. Ms. Agnes was a longtime member of Gaither’s United Methodist Church.

Agnes's legacy will live on in the memories she created and the love she shared with those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She enjoyed watching television, gardening, crocheting, sewing, and especially loved her grandchildren.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents Willie Lee and Florine Murphy Deaton and is survived by her son Weyman Lumsden; her daughter Cindy Higgins (Jeff); her grandsons Michael and James Higgins; her brother Herman Deaton; her sisters Minnie Lou, Peggy, Barbara, Martha, and Jean; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. 

Funeral services for Ms. Agnes will be held at 2 o’clock on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday prior to the service.
