Noah "Elwood" Free

Mr. Noah “Elwood” Free, age 87 of Oxford passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Piedmont Newton Hospital. He was born in Habersham County, GA to Winfred Willis and Elsie Woodall Free who have preceded him in death. Mr. Free was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved loved being around his family. Mr. Free was a member of the Covington Lions Club for over 50 years and enjoyed the barbeque cook outs every year.

Mr. Free was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Cantrell Free.  He is survived by his children Ricky (Shirley Cowan) Free of Covington and Regina (Darrell) Phillips of Oxford; grandson Richard (Lauren) Free; great granddaughter Tallulah Free; brother Dwight Free of Jasper, GA, and special family friends Steph, Julie and Sophia Mabie.

Graveside Service for Mr. Free will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 8503 Pea Ridge Road, Cornelia, GA  30531. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at J.C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in memory of Mr. Elwood Free to the Covington Lions Club, P.O. Box 829, Covington, GA  30015. J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
