Oscar Johnson Obituary

Oscar Lee Johnson, a cherished soul known for his loving, kind, and generous spirit, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, in Macon, GA. Born on April 5, 1947, in Jacksonville, FL, Oscar's life was a testament to the strength and compassion that he carried with him every day.

Oscar was the beloved son of the late Luther and Mary Johnson; he was also preceded in death by his wife Tricia Johnson and 7 of his siblings. His life was enriched by the love and support of his family, his son Mark Robertson (Leslie) of Warner Robins, his daughter Tina Clark (Tony) of Ft. Mitchell, AL, and his son Lee Johnson (Bridgette) of Macon; Oscar is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his siblings Mary Ruth, Kathy, and Justin Bruce; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and many close friends.

A proud veteran, Oscar served his country with honor and valor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His bravery was recognized with the awarding of a Purple Heart, a distinction that spoke to his courage and selflessness. Following his military service, Oscar embarked on a career as a truck driver.

Oscar's generosity knew no bounds. Each Christmas, he dedicated himself to giving to St. Jude's Hospital and the local Police fund, embodying the true spirit of the season. His interests were as varied as they were heartfelt; he found joy in playing cards, fishing, and hunting, activities that brought him closer to friends and the natural world he so loved.

Those who knew Oscar will remember him as a man who lived his values every day. He was a pillar of strength for his family, a loyal friend, and a compassionate member of his community. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
