Patrick Gomes

Mr. Patrick Fitzgerald Gomes, age 49 years, of Covington, Georgia passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021.  He was born on October 11, 1971 in Waukegan, Illinois.  After graduating from Tuscaloosa Academy in Tuscaloosa Alabama, he went on to receive a bachelor of arts in history followed by his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He worked as an attorney in the public defender’s office in both Kentucky and Georgia.  Mr. Gomes was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Conyers, GA.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Gomes, in 2018 and is survived by his father, Edward Gomes, and his sister, Heidi Gomes, of Covington, GA and his brother, Joseph Gomes, of Troy, Michigan along with other family and friends. 

A funeral mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2621 Georgia Highway 20 SE, Conyers, GA 30013 at 2 o’clock, Monday, April 19, 2021 with Father Juan Areiza officiating. Interment will follow at New Covington Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Missionaries of Charity Gift of Grace House, 995 St. Charles Ave., Atlanta, GA 30306.  J.C. As of April 8, 2021, Governor Brian Kemp has lifted the restrictions for large gatherings and other recommendations throughout Georgia.  However, we ask that you still be respectful of the family and others during this time and when attending services at any location be mindful of their restrictions. If you are sick, not feeling well, or have any symptoms of COVID 19, please do not attend the service or services.  If you feel the need to wear a mask, please do so.
