Raymond David Clark, 81, of Mansfield, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly at his farm on Friday, August 9, 2024. He is survived by his brothers, Gary K. Clark of Bradenton, Florida, and Doug Clark of Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Kay Clark, and his parents, Gretta and Raymond Clark. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as his beloved Labrador retrievers (Paige, Desi, Diesel, and Jazzy) and horses (Bert, Cash, Fancy, Freddy, and Weeds).
Dave was born on July 24, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was the oldest of Ray and Gretta’s three sons. He attended Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, where he was an active member of 4-H, winning an international award for his sheep shearing demonstration. He was a dedicated member of FFA and a sought-after artist for Senior cords. Dave graduated from Warren Central in 1961 and continued his education at Purdue University, earning his B.S. in Animal Science and M.S. in Plant Physiology. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He met his wife, Kay, at Purdue, and they were married at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. They moved to Marietta, Georgia, where Dave was employed by BASF as an agricultural field engineer. Dave also planned and developed many KOA campgrounds in Georgia. He and Kay later co-owned and operated Wood Acres Country Day School, and Dave engineered and served as general contractor for the building and development of the 9 building, 10-acre campus that educated a yearly enrollment of 700 students in prekindergarten through 5th grade for over 30 years.
Dave was a proud member of The Burge Club in Mansfield, Georgia, a private hunting, shooting, and family club. Dave and Kay also founded and operated the AKC registered Brinclair Kennels and raised Tennessee Walking Horses at their Mansfield farm.
Interment was at the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Columbarium in Indianapolis. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
