Rev. Franklin Huwe Obituary

Celebrating a Life of Service, Faith, and Dedication

Rev. Franklin Huwe, age 91, of Oxford, formerly of Minot, North Dakota, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026. Born on July 26, 1934, in Lansford, ND, Franklin was the beloved son of Herman and Gussie Huwe, both of whom preceded him in death.

A Life Rooted in North Dakota

Franklin spent his formative years on a grain farm in Lansford, embracing the values of hard work and community. He graduated from Lansford High School in 1952 and began an academic journey marked by curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. He attended the University of North Dakota in 1953, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. His quest for learning led him to Northwest Bible College, where he earned a Diploma in Biblical Studies in 1956, and then to Bob Jones University, graduating in 1959 with a Degree in Bible and Interpretive Speech. Franklin continued his education at Minot State University, receiving a Degree in Speech Pathology in 1966, and later awarded his Doctorate in Literature at Northwest Bible College in 1983.

A Legacy of Service and Giving

To say Franklin led a full life would be an understatement. He channeled his education and talents into helping others, always putting service before self. As a Real Estate Developer and the Director of Easter Seals Speech and Hearing Clinic in Billings, Montana, Franklin made a lasting impact. He pioneered the development of several speech and hearing centers in Saskatchewan, Canada, changing countless lives. His dedication extended into public service, serving as President of the Minot Public School Board and President of Northwest Bible College. From 1980 to 1982, Franklin proudly represented his community as a member of the North Dakota House of Representatives.

A Devoted Minister and Faithful Servant

Franklin's faith was central to his life. An ordained Minister in the Church of God, he was a guest minister and speaker at numerous church denominations, sharing hope and wisdom. His final pastoral service was as the devoted Pastor of Antler Community Church, where he served faithfully for 23 years, from 1989 to 2013. Franklin's ministry touched the hearts of many and inspired those around him to live with compassion and integrity.

Franklin is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn Huwe; his children Marshall Huwe (Pamela), Yolonda Watterson (Bill), and Matthew Huwe; his grandchildren Alyssa Slack (Jonathan), Kianna Huwe, McKenzie Watterson (Emma), and Micah Watterson; his great-grandchildren Lilly and Charlie Slack; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and many close friends.
