Richard Pace, age 85, of Covington, passed away on June 11, 2026. He was born on August 1, 1940, in Covington and lived a life marked by love, kindness, and friendship.
Richard was the beloved husband of Pamela Pace and a devoted father to Kimberly and David Ford, and Kerry Chapman. He was a proud grandfather to Hannah Ford Lewis and her husband Jacob, Victoria Lynn Chapman (Tori), Daniel Curtis Chapman IV (Chap), Cash Richard Chapman, and Cruz Rowland Chapman. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Beau Wiley Lewis and Remi Oaklyn Lewis and his godson, Timothy Ryan Cartledge, as well as his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Angela and Larry Briscoe, and a host of other family members and close friends who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. “Jot” and Evelyn V. Pace, and by his brothers, Sam and Bill Pace.
Richard graduated from Newton High School and went on to build a respected and successful career as the owner and operator of Pace Cars in Covington. For 40 years, he served his community through his business with dedication, integrity, and a strong work ethic. He was known not only for his professionalism, but also for the genuine care he showed to those around him. His presence in Covington was a familiar and trusted one, and his contributions left a lasting impression on many lives.
Those who knew Richard will remember him as a loving, kind, and friendly man who made others feel welcome and valued. He had a warm spirit and a steady nature that brought comfort and joy to family and friends alike. His greatest joy in life came from the time he shared with those he loved most, and he treasured every moment spent in their company. Whether gathered around the table, sharing stories, or simply enjoying one another’s presence, Richard found happiness in the bonds of family and friendship.
Richard’s life was one of devotion, hard work, and deep affection for the people around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain a source of comfort and gratitude to those whose lives he touched.
Funeral services for Richard will be held at 3 o’clock, Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Covington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday prior to the service. Those serving as pallbearers will be Chap Chapman, Cash Chapman, Cruz Chapman, Jacob Lewis, Matt Allen, Marc Allen, and John Weber. The honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Sigman, Tim Cartledge, Larry Briscoe, Maurice Carter, and Dan Chapman.
