Richard Whirley

Richard “Rick” Whirley, loving husband and father passed away peacefully on May 5th, 2021.  Rick was born on November 24th, 1948 in Corinth, Mississippi. He shared 41 years of marriage with his wife, Nancy and together they built a family with 2 children and five grandchildren.

A shrewd businessman, Rick left a very successful career in the corporate world to begin a home healthcare business. His entrepreneurial spirit, coupled with his impressive business acumen, enabled him to find success in creative and atypical ways. His intelligence and work ethic were well balanced with his quick wit and colorful Mississippi humor.

Rick had a way to make everyone feel as though they were truly important and lifted those around him with insightful advice and infectious laughter. He was a resilient man who battled through illness and hardships as a provider for his family and friends. He loved fully, and his greatest testament was his presence during difficult times without complaint.  As he often encouraged others to do, Rick truly “voted with his feet.”  His greatest joy was time spent enjoying his family. 

Rick was preceded in death by his father, LC; mother, Burlene; and grandmother, Lydia. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, April and son-in-law, Kip; son, Richard and daughter-in-law, Amanda; and his five grandchildren, Lauren, Lydia, Anne Marie, Hudson, and Maria.

A casual celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 14th, 2021 at Prince Avenue Baptist Church in the The Tabernacle Building (3691 Monroe Hwy, Bogart, GA) at 11:00 am followed by a lunch and all are invited to join.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Lydia’s Place, a non-profit that was started by Rick’s daughter, April, and named after his grandmother, Lydia. This can be done at www.Lydias-Place.com.
