Richard "Dick" Charles Schneider

Richard Charles “Dick” Schneider, 91, of Oxford, Georgia, passed away April 11, 2026. Originally from Decatur, Georgia, Dick was a proud veteran and a graduate of Auburn University. He dedicated more than 30 years to the Newton County School System, retiring as Superintendent of Schools.

Dick was a kind and devoted man who was active in his community and church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Schneider.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Jo Page Schneider; daughters, Jody Schneider Laseter (Tim) and Page Schneider McGavisk (Ian); son, Richard “Bo” Schneider, Jr. (Carol); sister, June Schneider Amsler Lynd; many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his loyal dog, Maggie.

Funeral services for Mr. Schneider will be held at 2 o’clock on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Oxford Historical Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made in memory of Mr. Schneider to the Covington Ga YMCA or to Newton County Special Olympics. J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with these services.
