Rick Vaida

Mr. Rick Vaida, age 77, of Porterdale passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022. He was born October 20, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Pete and Amelia Vaida who have preceded him in death.  Rick grew up in Texas and graduated from Calhoun County High School.  He enjoyed fishing and RVing.  Mr. Vaida served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Sergeant.  He served from September 15, 1965 until September 17, 1971 and was stationed in Japan at Camp Hanson.  Rick was a member of C.A.R.E. Incorporated in Porterdale where he served on the Board of Directors for 10 years and was very instrumental in establishing the Veteran’s Memorial Park. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son Ernest John Vaida and his wife Bunny Ruth Pozza Vaida.  Mr. Vaida is survived by his children Richard Jason Vaida and Randall Dale; his adopted daughter Bonnie Ray Decker; and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Patterson officiating.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to C.A.R.E., Inc., 37 Elm Street, Porterdale, GA 30014.  J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
