Mr. Robert E. Hickly passed away on May 15, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born on November 6, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and lived a life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, hard work, and enduring friendship.
Bob proudly served his nation for 27 years in the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of Major. His military career reflected his deep sense of duty, discipline, and leadership, qualities that guided him throughout his life. Following his retirement from the Army, he continued his working life with Golden State Foods, where he carried the same strong work ethic and dependable spirit that had defined his years of service.
Those who knew Bob will remember him as a man of quiet strength, steady character, and genuine kindness. He valued loyalty, honesty, and perseverance, and he carried himself with a dignity that earned the respect of all who crossed his path. He was a man who believed in doing things the right way, and he set an example for others through both his words and his actions.
Bob was a Master Mason and a member of Golden Fleece Lodge #6, affiliations that reflected his commitment to fellowship, tradition, and service to others. He was also a member of The American Legion and the VFW, organizations through which he maintained strong ties with fellow veterans and continued his lifelong connection to those who served. These memberships were an important part of his life, and he took pride in being part of communities built on honor and support.
Family was at the center of Bob’s life, and he treasured the people closest to him. He is survived by his wife, Jo Hickly; his children, Debbie Hickly of Atlanta, Georgia, Stephanie Ankney of Dallas, Texas, Shawn Hickly of Newborn, Georgia, Stephanie Heisey of Covington, Georgia, and John Myers of Millersville, Pennsylvania; and his grandchildren, Brent Ankney, Jacob Heisey, Nevaeh Mosley, and Destry Hickly. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Hickly of Finleyville, Pennsylvania, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss him deeply.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William Paul and Agnes Hickly, and his brother, Donald Hickly. He carried the memory of his loved ones with him throughout his life, and his family finds comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with those who went before him.
