Ronald Gerald Shaw, Jr., known as Ron to his friends and family, passed away on March 24, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on November 16, 1961, in Bangor, Maine, Ron's early years were characterized by the warmth of a close-knit family and the charm of small-town life.
Ron predeceased by his father, Ron Shaw, Sr., and is survived by his devoted mother, Jean Brown, and loving stepfather, Byron Brown. Ron's legacy continues through his children: Price Shaw and his fiancée Haley Kitchens, Tyler Hogwood and his wife Erica, and Kayla Hogwood, along with her significant other Scottie Cole. His grandchildren, Colby and Austin Hogwood, Joselyn, and Katelyn Cole, will miss their grandfather's playful spirit and endless stories. Ron's brothers, Steven Shaw and his wife Robyn, Troy Shaw and his wife Machel, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends, will fondly remember his generous heart and infectious laugh.
Ron's professional life was marked by his exceptional talent in sales within the construction industry. His colleagues often said he had the "gift of gab," a skill that made him not only a great salesman but also a successful entrepreneur. Ron owned and operated many businesses over the years, demonstrating his relentless work ethic and dedication to his craft.
A man of many interests and talents, Ron spent the first part of his life in Maine before relocating to Griffin, Georgia, and eventually settling in Covington, Georgia. Music played a significant role in Ron's life; he was a gifted bass guitar player, known for his musical talent and passion for playing in church bands. For many years, he shared his love for music with congregations throughout Covington, Conyers, and McDonough, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of hearing him play.
A Memorial Service for Ron will be at 4:00PM on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Ben Warrick officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 3:00PM until 4:00PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
