Mr. Ronnie Carr, age 77, of Covington, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025. Born in Tifton, Georgia, on October 12, 1948, Ronnie was the cherished son of the late Henry Oscar Carr and Mary Elizabeth Greer Carr. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, along with his brothers Tommy Carr and Bobby Carr, and his sister Betty Brannon.
Ronnie proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1973 to 1977. His service shaped his character and instilled in him a lifelong sense of duty and honor that he carried through all aspects of his life.
Following his military service, Ronnie shared his passion and expertise as an instructor of Heating and Air Conditioning at Dekalb Tech and Georgia Perimeter College for 32 years. He took immense pride in mentoring students, guiding them both during their time in the classroom and as they embarked on their careers. His dedication to teaching left a lasting impact on countless lives.
A devoted member of Covington Mill United Methodist Church, Ronnie found strength and purpose in his faith community. He was also a proud Master Mason with Pace Lodge #558, exemplifying the values of fraternity and service.
Ronnie was an excellent cook and loved nothing more than gathering with family and creating joyful memories. His family fondly remembers him as the “Supervisor” of all things, a testament to his caring and involved nature. He cherished vacations at Daytona Beach and was an avid fan of NASCAR, even building and racing his own car, a true testament to his adventurous spirit.
Above all, Ronnie was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His warmth, guidance, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Carr is survived by his wife Marlyne Carr; his son Mark Carr; his daughters Amy Clay (Denny) and Melinda Castels (Joe); his grandchildren Ashley Way, Justin Castels, Brooklyn Rivera, Lacey Fown, Kaley Clay, and Jason Castels; his great grandchildren Bayleigh Fown, Trentin Fown, Carson Bankston, Rhema Rivera, Cameron Rivera, Maverick Rivera, Tate Castels, and Titus Townsend; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Carr will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Kimbrough Pace officiating. Interment will follow at Covington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Those serving as pallbearers will be Sam Mitchell, Trentin Fown, Buck Brannon, Alex Brannon, J.W. Brannon, and Seth Brannon with honorary pallbearers being Glen Kenner, Charlie, Thompson, and Richard Pace.
