Roy Lee Lazenby, of Covington, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, at the age of 80 surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Lazenby was a proud retired Chief Warrant Officer 2 of the United States Army where he served two tours in the Vietnam. He was a proud and dedicated serviceman whose strong work ethic carried throughout every part of his life. Mr. Lazenby was known as a hard worker and a true builder. He loved fishing, building things with his hands, and spending time on his farm in Tennessee.
Mr. Lazenby was fun-loving and full of life, always enjoying the company of others. He loved playing practical jokes on those closest to him. Music was a constant joy in his life—he played guitar often and had a special love for country western music.
Above all, Mr. Lazenby cherished his family, and it was a joy to be around. He will forever be remembered for his service, his laughter, and the many memories he created with those who loved him.
He is survived by his sister Helen House (Jimmy), Sister-in-law Mary Lazenby, brother-in-law Tommy Peppers, Neice and caregiver Tracy Lazenby, great nephew Miles Williamson (Samantha), and five generations of beloved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Mr. Lazenby will be held at 2:30pm Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Carmel Church Cemetery in Mansfield. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday prior to the procession to the cemetery.
